The Ammunition Feed System
is mounted externally on the left side of the helicopter,
aft the avionics access door, to three hard point mounts.
The feed system stores and supplies linked ammunition to
provide for heliborne operation of the machine gun. The
Ammunition Feed System consists of three hard point mounts,
a upper and lower feed chute, and an ammunition box.

Three hard points are
mounted externally to the helicopter airframe, aft the
avionics access door. The hard points provide mounting
points for heliborne operation of the ammunition feed
system.

The Ammunition Storage Box consists of a cover, a hinged fairing assembly, an upper ammunition chute assembly, and a storage box. The Ammunition Storage Box is capable of storing 463 rounds of linked .50 caliber (12.7mm) ammunition. Ammunition stored in the box is fed over rollers at the upper forward end of the box, through the chutes to the machine gun. The ammunition is gravity fed to the gun.
The Ammunition Chute
Assembly is a flexible link channel, which guides the .50
caliber (12.7mm) ammunition from the ammunition box to the
machine gun. The chute holds 37 rounds of linked
ammunition. The chute and box hold a combined total of 500
rounds of ammunition.
